What is EDI?
In practical terms EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) describes is the process by which data can be transferred in a standardized form between business systems. This transfer can take place between your own business and it's customers and suppliers or between your own in-house system or divisions.
What is DataVuze?
DataVuze is an enterprise level EDI Management System that provides translation, mapping, data storage, event notification, auditing, data file capture and workflow capabilities. With DataVuze installed configuring for a new EDI format simply involves creating a new data map and a collection method for the EDI data. The data can then be automatically imported or exported from DataVuze either as a standalone EDI system or as a Gateway system to your existing database systems.
Automation
Automation is a key part of the success of any EDI system. DataVuze can instantly detect files that are placed in a network share or can be configured to poll an FTP/SFTP site for incoming files. Once detected and identified the file will be imported into the DataVuze system where it can be automatically processed into an existing system.
For outgoing files DataVuze has a transmission triggering system which can be automated based on activity in your existing system. Once triggered files can be output to a folder, network or FTP/SFTP location.
Mapping
Mapping to and from XML, EDI or flat files is easily configured using industry standard methods. Once defined the mapping is stored in DataVuze against a particular transaction or file type. Whenever a file of the type is identified the pre-defined mapping is used to import that file into the DataVuze storage. Because this mapping is defined at runtime there is no need for expensive re-development should the mapping requirements change. You can also configure the system to only import the data that is important to you.
